1st Edition, 2018 - Temple University’s campus in Rome

The Summer School started on 18th June 2018 and ended on 22nd June 2018. It provided the participants with comprehensive knowledge of the legal mechanisms and tools applicable in the field of business and human rights while keeping up with current relevant developments at national, regional and international level. The program focused on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, adopted in 2011, as well as on their implementation at national and international level. Also, particular attention was devoted to the ongoing discussions on the Draft UN Treaty on Business and Human Rights. Well-known experts and academicians in B&HRs area held extremely interesting and insightful lectures; among the others: Nadia Bernaz (Wageningen University & Research); Tara Van Ho (University of Essex); Sheldon Leader (University of Essex); Daniel Leader (Leigh Day); Jernej Letnar Černič (Graduate School of Government and European Studies), Fabrizio Petri (President of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Human Rights – CIDU). The Summer ended with the keynote speech given by Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque, judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
